The Natural World
05:54
|

Love is the net the spider weaves
It functions as snare and universe
A mouth and a hand
A setting to briefly know life and to lose it
Darkness to fill with the aching light of stars
A mind to fill with dreams
Heat. Damp air. No strength. A life begins.
Wind. Cold grass. Frost heaves. Stones pushed through time.
The sun, moon and earth trace lines.
The eye sees. Light spills inside.
Grace weaves through threads hung in between
the trees of heaven and latticed leaves.
Details demand scribe. Page thirsts for ink.
Life finds a witness. Earth mirroring grace -
As a mother embraces her murderous sons
As a fox takes unhatched young from nest
Its avian pearls
Brought to her home underground
Kits fangs tear through gold
And the day moon observes
Fate tying souls who die and who eat
Days move through loss, suns rise over grief
Details demand scribe. Page thirsts for ink.
Life makes its witness. Skies mirror space.
The bodies of gnats suspended in cracked-glass corners
Love is the harness that holds them in place
Discarded bodies digested by time
Love is a sentence the spider speaks as it weaves us into the natural world
Life blooms and withers at once

The Sun
04:17
|
|||
Sun in the center crowning horizon
Spilling through valleys, soaks into leaves
Light in the morning, clawing through unprepared eyes
Thief of sleep and sight, decider of life
That blooming orb of flame
Its constant daggers
Imbuing dust with thought
To languish under its watch
Sun in the center rejecting horizon
Warping landscapes, dehydrating skies
Unknowable vastness of temporal majesty
heat singed strands, unraveling braids
This stretching ring of flame
Its lunar occlusion
Alignment of bodies and sight
Encircling ring of dusk
Night sky smoldering
Solar soliloquy interrupted
Witness the sun overtaken
Reminder of dark’s omnipresence
Golden light pooling in vacant chambers
The womb of nothing
Black from which no light escapes
This sun will burn out
Outlived by space which held it
The bladed sun whose rays pierce into our minds
The moon between brings stars to midday sky
The cold of space soaks into the desert floor
And through it all the sun still burns

The Great Equalizer
04:26
|
|||
Step back from the mind
See through every eye
Observing the vacuous sight
Reflected in unending life
Know dark in the darkness
Hear silence which calls
Emptiness prevailing
Echoes from black wings
Inhaling the deepening empty
Formlessness eroding itself
Collapse walls surrounding our hearts
The dust from which we sculpted meaning
Falls back into a soft black absolute
To rest on stone within the ego tomb
Shedding the chrysalis of material existence
Discarding hierarchies which serve to separate
Relinquish the nature of time
And the concept of self
Known physical properties
Dissolve in the gaze of
The great equalizer
Ash of selves commingling
The soil swallows
Roots grab at bone
As a mind returns
Blurring fragments
Tessellate
The braid unraveling
As it is wound
Lives guided
Through their moments
A constant flowing
Everything
Step back from the mind
See through every eye
Observing the vacuous sight
Reflected in unending life
Know dark in the darkness
Know the light that leaks in
Hearing the voices of time
Emptiness prevails

Pantocrator
04:40
|

Misaligned teeth in flatbed press gearboxes
Poorly burnished plate tearing through parchment
Copper burrs embed in wool blanket skies
as the heavens roll us through etched lives
Yet an image is pulled
Its substrate, while damaged, still functions
And still a message is told
Its meaning, while mangled, is purposed
The ink that is left behind delivers us a new and damaged world
As the sentences just carry on for each soul to inherit as a debt
Falling water escaping as paint brush stroke
Passes fleeting through memory and hand
Sky hung floods suspended over mountaintops
Drawing storms in heavens above
From night, a vision bestowed
Its genesis, mental, uncovered
And still a message is held
Its meaning, illusive, now recorded in the pigments left behind
A passage into past internal worlds
The sentences would act as nets for dreams caught half-millennium in fiber
Symbols on paper form concepts of life engraved into being
Illusory process, immovable masses chiseled in time and thought
Columns of water cut into the earth tearing through land
Mountains eroded through dreams metaphor telling uncertainties
Atrophied functions of contact employed a cognitive dewclaw
Disparate pieces of mind interact through chambers unused
Languages gesture toward physical worlds constructing ontologies
Living from imprinted ancient light
A universe sparkborn
New understanding of consciousness through Gutenberg’s apocalypse
Waves felt from actions of lives never known
Durer's dreams of deluge
Columns of water cut into the earth
Symbols on paper inform life
Languages gesture to physical
Abstract becomes an immovable mass

Impermanence
05:08
|
|||
Has the funnel weaver moved from the mouth of its den?
The air stays cool in the mornings, the sun stays low but rises.
After observing the rhythms of life around us,
Is there any reason to fear change?
Impermanence lending substrate to meaning
A celebration of holding on, then letting go
Filling and emptying
Lungs and stomachs
Waking from slumber
To be met with the night again
Born to this world
Then enshrouded by womb once more
Waking from slumber
Met with the night all at once
After observing the rhythms and passage of shadows,
Is there any reason to fear change?
Has the cat bared its young? have they opened their eyes?
The grass is dried from spring and drought
It catches in fur and moves inside
Patterns which seem arbitrary
Yet arise from necessity
They want to see their mother
They hear her movements in the brush
First moments of life among rose thorns
She feeds them til they can see and hunt
And teaches them with a crippled locust
While the spider still sits in its home by the window
Impermanent

Winterkill

|

Two fingers in the Longinus wound
Gesturing to a cosmic realm
Through the veil of human flesh
A universe is stored therein
Where there is fire which gives off eternal light
And there is an ocean which reflects the stars
And there are roots like veins pushing through the earth
And there are vast fissures where emptiness prevails
Two nails through divinity’s wrists
A human display of carnal malefaction
Each palm weeping sacrosanct blood
A karmic deficit wrought in deicide
We are as bottomless vessels
Wells siphoned from sacred springs
We are as the crops and winter kill
Heads bowed as split stems under snow
Amongst the nerves of the world
In blurred fragments of existence
Among the static of night
Stars become lost in the snowfall

Celestial Coronation

Angels descend from shimmering bitumen
Clawing at horizon, crawling down from the stars
Innumerable hands cradling stone and pulling at cliffs
An inverted sky touched by cold rage of the dark
I’ll be in your dreams
Passing through seemingly separate minds
I’ll speak through the dark
Lost language of scorched memories
Angels descend from shimmering bitumen
Unfurl tapestry of nucleic honesty
Sudarium shroud of lurid blood drapes across sky
A raised tattered banner, triumph of the weeping night
Walking through this pitch
Led by the light in the back of the mind
Summits beyond reach
Of ladders with rungs of blades
A view of eternal nature
Earth as a serpent which writhes across time
Forests glinting as thunderstorms
Wooden light ascending
Over impossible oceans of land
Where mountains crash as waves
A nearly still water sculpts a world
Walking through black air
Guided by light in mind
Led to a clearing of bone-pale grass
Leaves reflect moonlight
It flows through our dreams
Passing through separate minds
A voice from the night
Lost language of hidden world
A language written in silk threads
Whispers from the spider’s tongue
Offered from the depths of the river’s cold
And the gift of a snake’s molt on shoreline
Fossilized imprints of life
An empty sky spills around us
This balanced and natural world knows you
